Uganda Western circuit (15 days) birding:
This trip will combine the most savannah and forested areas of western Uganda where you will be able to explore the following place of interest: Mabamba, Lake Mburo, Queen Elizabeth, Kibale Forest, and Murchison Falls. The highlights are: The Shoebill, African finfoot, Puve's Illadopsis, Greater Blue turracos.
- Day 1 Entebbe
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a welcome team will transfer
you to the Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel or Golf Course Apartment, depending
on your time of arrival.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed and breakfast.
- Day 2 Entebbe - Mabamba
Early morning birding Entebbe and continue to Mabamba wet land birding
along the way. On this very day you may see; verreux’s eagle owl,
swamp fly catcher Ross’s turacos, Klaas’s couco, white winged
warbler, Blue breasted Bee eater, cape wagtail ,shoebill stork and a lot
more. Drive to Kampala in the evening after a very exciting birding day
to Hotel Bravad.

- Day 3 Mabamba – Lake Mburo
Depart from Masaka to Lake Mburo National park birding along the way
arriving later in afternoon for overnight at Mantana Luxury Tented Camp
or Rwanyo Camp. Expect; White winged warbler, lesser and greater moorhen,
rufous-naped lark, Red winged Francolin southern red bishop, among the
many other encounters.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
- Day 4 Lake Mburo
Wake up early in the morning for birding. Depending on the season, look
out for the brown chested plover (migrant observed from July to December
mainly September) southern ground hornbill, Red faced barbet, Narina Trogon,
Black Cuckoo shrike, Lead colored fly catcher. Also you will see mammals
notably Zebra, Eland, Topi, Oribis and Cape Buffalos, After lunch boat
cruise will bring you close to the African fin foot, African water rail
Yellow -throated leaf love, Pied and malachite Kingfisher, spur winged
plover, and African Darter. After boat ride, dusk drive to sport the nightjar
and other nocturnal birds.

- Day 5 Lake Mburo – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early morning birding and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park,
lunch will be served in Mbarara before transferring to Queen Elizabeth
while birding along the way, over night at Mweya safari lodge or Institute
of Ecology. Expect to see: - White winged warbler, Martial Eagle, African
skimmer, verreaux’s eagle owl, Red Faced Barbet, Southern Ground
Hornbill, and many others.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
- Day 6 Murchison Falls National Park
Whole day birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park, view birds like
Lesser Flamingo (from December to January), Grey Capped Warbler, Saddled-billed
Storks, Woolly-necked, African Skimmer and Red Footed Falcon, returning
to the Lodge for over night.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
- Day 7 Murchison Falls National Park
Birding on the Kazinga channel in the morning boat cruise, expect a
variety and flock of water birds (this can be also be done in the afternoon
instead of morning).
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Day 8 Murchison Falls National Park – Kibale Forest National park
Morning birding in the Katwe area before afternoon transfer to Kibale
Forest National Park arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight
at the Ndali Safari Lodge or Rwenzori Travelers inn.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Day 9 Kibale Forest National park
Kibale forest National Park birding in the morning forest walk combined
with chimps tracking and afternoon bird watching on the Bigodi wetland
area; expect to see Scaly francolin, Mash Tchagra, Narina trogon, pied
hornbill, joyful greenbul, Great Blue Turacos, Brown Illadopsis, and many
more. Over night stay at Ndali lodge or Rwenzori Travelers Inn.

- Day 10 Kibale National Park – Murchison Falls National Park
Early morning departure for Masindi while birding along the way arriving
in the evening for an overnight at Paraa Lodge or Redchillis Camp.

- Day 11 Murchison Falls National Park
Early morning birding on the northern bank of the Nile river up to Buligi
circuit, later in the afternoon, birding on the Nile river by a boat cruise
to the bottom of the falls, expect see: red necked falcon, Grey winged
warbler, Spotted morning thrush, Shoebill, Red throated bee eater, Abyssinian
ground hornbill, Secretary bird, Pell’s fishing owl, and many more.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Day 12 Murchison Falls National Park
Early in the morning transfer to the southern bank of River Nile for birding
until lunch break at Sambiya river lodge, later in the afternoon, birding
on the way to the top of the falls until dark. Expect to sight; Brown
backed Woodpecker, red winged warbler, Brown ramped bunting, Heuglin’s
francolin, Bat hawk, Standard winged nightjar, Rock pratincole, Pell’s
fishing owl, overnight at Paraa Lodge.

- Day 13 Murchison Falls National Park
Depart to Budongo forests for birding along the Kaniyo pabidi in the morning
and transfer to Royal Mile overnight at Paraa Lodge. Expect to sight;
Puvel’s Illadopsis, Green-breasted pitta, White breasted negrofinc,
Chocolate backed kingfisher, Brown crowned Eremomela, Black and white
casqued Hornbill.
Meal plan and accommodation: Bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Day 14 Murchison Falls National Park – Kampala
In the morning bird watching on the Royal Mile and transfer to Kampala
lunch will be served in Masindi at Court view hotel. Depending on your
departure time, Airport transfer can be arranged or Hotel accommodation
Kampala.
- Day 15 Kampala - Entebbe
In case you spent a night in Kampala, you will have a chance in morning,
go for shopping, and brief city tour before you are transferred to the
airport.
Other attraction for this safari include; BIG FOUR, CHIMP' and the falls.

Binoculars, good walking boots, pair of trousers, hat for protection from
