SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK
Found in the remote region of Western Uganda; Favorable destination
for birders with over 40 unique bird species found no where in Uganda.
It is also the site of the Sempaya Hot springs and geysers. Activities
here include Chimpanzee trekking, night and day game drives and boat trips
on Lake Albert which enable you to view the rare shoebill.
Size: 220 sq km
District: Bundibugyo
Geographical location: Below the Rwenzori Mountains, western arm of the Rift valley.
Physical features: Semuliki River marks the western boundary of the park and border with Zaire. The Sempaya hot springs and several other small hot springs.
Vegetation: There are also clearings of grassland, bits of swamp, isolated stands of oil palm, acacia and glimpses of bamboo swamp. It’s the only park composed of tropical lowland forest.
Animals: Elephants, buffalo, leopard, civet, hippo, scaly-tailed flying squirrel and the different species of primates; black and white colobus, red- tailed monkey and the vervet monkey.
Birdlife: Semuliki is of exceptional diversty for small mammals, birds and butterflies. There are 400 species of birds like horn bills and lyre tailed honey guide.
Local People: The Pygmies who settled near the Ntandi some years ago have turned into a major attraction, other people that live around here are the Bwamba, Bakonzo, Babwitsi, Batooro, and Babutoku.

Bundibungyo, campsite at Bumaga about 3km from Sempaya gate and a Luxurious
Semuliki Safari Lodge at the Reserve.
