SPOT FISHING TOURS UGANDA

Though fishing is widely developed, sport fishing is relatively a new tourist product that has taken the fancy of many visitors to Uganda each year. Uganda is a country of diversity and it has been termed as the country of lakes and rivers because almost a third of the country is covered by water. Lake Victoria, the largest inland lake in Africa dominates the southern border of the country while lakes Edward and Albert lie to the west. Linked to Lake Edward by the Kazinga Channel, Lake Mburo, 230 km to the west of Kampala, is the only lake entirely within a National park. In the centre of Uganda Lakes Kwania and Kyoga are fed by the waters of Lake Victoria Nile. Other picturesque lakes are Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale and Lake Bisina in the shadow of Mount Elgon as well as tiny crater lakes high in the mountains.

Lake Victoria is the source of the mighty Nile which then flows northwards to Lake Kyoga and onwards through the Murchison falls National Park, where the waters are forced through a six meter wide cleft and down a 30 meter drop. Sports’ fishing is possible in the river sections above and below the falls, prior bookings have to be made in advance as the number of people doing spots fishing at the designated areas at any time has to be regulated. Here interested people are requested to bring their own fishing equipments.
